Jill Nykoliation

The ICA and Ad Women of Toronto are delighted to announce that Jill Nykoliation, Partner and Lead Strategist of Juniper Park will be presenting Marketing to the New Economic Powerhouse - Women.

Forget the term “gatekeeper,” women are much more powerful today when it comes to consumption. Women now account for over 50% of jobs and dominate the purchase influence and decision in nearly every single category. Yet, most women still feel their needs have gone unmet by most companies. Jill will go past well-trodden insights to share new learnings around how women communicate, and how we as marketers can use that knowledge to better connect with this valuable consumer.

Jill Nykoliation is Partner and lead strategist of Juniper Park, an agency that brings the disciplines of strategy, design and advertising together for their enviable North American client roster: Frito Lay US, Quaker US, Virgin Mobile, Chicago Tribune, Astral Media and EOS.

In three years, Jill and her Partners have achieved unprecedented growth for their agency. Juniper Park was recognized as a finalist for Agency of the Year by Marketing Magazine in both 2008 & 2009, Jill was named to AdAge’s 2009 Women to Watch list, and Juniper Park swept the 2010 Cassies, winning the Grand Prix and four golds.

Jill’s passion for creating brand platforms was cemented through her prior work at Kraft Foods as co-creator of Kraft’s award-winning CRM initiative, plus numerous brand management roles. Jill is a graduate of Queen’s Business School.

The ICA and the Globe and Mail are delighted to announce that our next speaker will be Michele McKenzie, President and CEO of the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC).

The CTC is a federal Crown Corporation that works in partnership with the public and private tourism sectors to market Canada, with the goal of growing tourism revenues. The CTC was awarded the prestigious ‘Marketer of the Year’ for 2009 by Marketing magazine.

The award recognized the CTC’s important role of championing Canadian tourism. Through a $26 million federal investment, the CTC leveraged the Vancouver Olympic Games to inspire travelers in its key international markets to explore Canada.

Further, in 2009, CTC also launched LOCALS KNOW, a campaign that showcased little-known yet enticing destinations across Canada, and encouraged Canadians to share their own experiences and photos on the campaign website. Forbes.com named it as one of the Top 10 Travel Campaigns in the world.

Since her appointment in 2004, Michele has guided the evolution of the CTC to become a fully integrated brand marketing organization, now recognized as one of the top marketing organizations in Canada. Michele has 25 years of experience in destination marketing, and immediately prior to her CTC appointment she was Deputy Minister of Tourism Culture and Heritage for the Province of Nova Scotia. Michele has also held a number of important Board positions.

Please mark your calendars for April 8th 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm to hear Michele’s Extraordinary Story, followed by a networking reception.
